One man Chiropractic Clinic to Full Service Sports Clinic Langley

Who’s who in the zoo?

Over the years, Rebound has grown from being a one-man team to the growing community that we have today in our sports clinic Langley! Although many have heard the names of our other health practitioners, it’s now time to jump right in and get to know the people responsible for your health just a little better!

Dr. Mark Malowney

Dr. Mark Malowney is a Chiropractic doctor and the founding member of Rebound Sport & Spine! Dr. Mark is not your typical Chiropractor though as his experience and outreach to local sporting organizations (Rams Junior Football Club, Langley Bears Football Club, and the Langley Trappers Junior Hockey club to name a few!), has enabled him to diagnose difficult injuries and provide effective treatment plans to manage stubborn injuries. It is with philosophy and framework of high-quality patient care and collaboration between other health care professionals, that Dr. Mark believes is the framework to successful healing.

Dr. Mark earned his Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) with Clinic Honours from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 2009. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Kinesiology, with distinction, from the University of Victoria and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Dr. Mark is also certified in Concussion Management by Complete Concussion Management.

In his spare time, Dr. Mark enjoys spending time with his young family, exercising, and teaching his sons about sports!

Daniel Mack

Daniel Mack is our fun-loving resident kinesiologist here at Rebound Sport & Spine. Dan is the flipside of the treatment/prevention sports injury coin – our chiropractors, registered massage therapists, and physiotherapists focus on treatment and healing, while Dan focuses on building strength and preventing future injuries. He believes in getting clients moving as quickly as possible after an injury, and views movement as both healing and prevention. Dan’s interest in Kinesiology first began with his time while playing Rugby for the Surrey Beavers Rugby Club. After going through and rehabilitating injuries himself, he developed a passion for helping people go through the same things that he did.

When in the clinic, you’ll always hear Dan talking about the local sports as he travels with the Langley Rams Junior Football Club and Langley Trappers Hockey Club as head trainer. It is Dan’s belief that if people start moving and training properly when they are young, they will feel stronger and have fewer aches and pains when they are older; however, there is never a bad time to start exercising!

Dan Mack holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Kinesiology from the University of the Fraser Valley. He specializes in exercise rehabilitation and sports injury management (including concussion rehabilitation) and is a certified practicing member of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists.

In his spare time, he enjoys watching sports, exercising, and spending quality time with his growing family as him and his fiancé are expecting their first child in May!

Shawn Swartz

Rebound has been blessed with the addition of one of our newest members, Physiotherapist Shawn Swartz. As Rebound philosophy allows others to move and be their best self, they will be learning from one of the best as Shawn has been fortunate to represent Canada and the IAAF World Junior Championships in High Jump! Shawn is incredibly passionate about his work and has worked with patients of all ages and has a strong interest in the sporting community as well as helping those in persistent pain. From a young age, Shawn has always had a passion for rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses which has guided the way he executes his treatment today.

Shawn uses a philosophy of empowerment, education, and collaboration to provide his clients with the most comprehensive treatment plans for his clients. Shawn prides himself in promoting positive health behaviours and looks to instill positive change as part of his treatments and maximize a person’s movement function. He is also trained in intramuscular stimulation (IMS)/dry needling and focuses on spending 1 on 1 time with his clients.

Shawn received a Masters of Science in Physiotherapy from Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, Scotland. Prior to this, he was a member of Washington State University’s NCAA Track and Field Team where he earned a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology and was an intern strength & conditioning coach with the WSU Athletics Department.

In his spare time, he loves spending time with friends and family, exploring music, playing basketball, working out, going on outdoor adventures, and recently developed a love for surfing/bouldering.

Nathan Jeffs

Some of you may recognize this name as Nathan started at Rebound as a Chiropractic intern with our very own Dr. Mark! While waiting to write his final Chiropractic licensing exam, Nathan has joined our team as a practicing kinesiologist. Nathan’s background in competitive sport has provided him with the experience to address and understand pain and injury from its foundation in movement. During his time in Nova Scotia, Nathan ran for the St.FX Cross Country team. He still loves to run, and recently completed his first 70.3 Ironman. Growing up in Ontario, he played high-level hockey, and one of his primary interests as a kinesiologist is providing strength and conditioning training to hockey players and other athletes. He also enjoys working with ICBC cases and guiding individuals toward getting back to their pre-accident status. Additionally, Nathan has completed extensive training in concussion management and loves the opportunity to help patients navigate the world of mild traumatic brain injury.

Nathan Jeffs received his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, and his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon.

When he’s not working or running, Nathan loves playing hockey, hiking, and backpacking with his partner and their dog. He also enjoys finding a good cup of coffee or a tasty new Brewery.

Lisa-Anne

From Client to Staff Member, Lisa-Anne left the corporate banking world to find new passions that could develop into a new career. This new career has come to the benefit of Rebound Sport & Spine! Much like many who come to Rebound, Lisa-Anne was drawn to the energy of everyone involved in the clinic and wanted to see where she grows with the Rebound team. She was originally hired on as an Executive Assistant but has since moved into a Consulting capacity and helps with the behind-the-scenes business operations. Lisa-Anne has developed into an important piece that helps keep all your favorite practitioners on task and helps the business run smoothly!

Some things you may not know about Lisa-Anne: She was originally born in Scotland and immigrated with her family to Vancouver in 2004 and is an identical triplet! In her free time, she enjoys hiking trails with her dog, spending time with friends and family, exploring new places, and trying new foods!

Emma

As the first face that many of you see when walking through the doors, many people have already met Emma. Another Client to Staff member story, Emma wanted to gain more experience working in a clinical setting that would be more in line with her education. This is because Emma is currently a student at the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) and is currently working through her Bachelor of Kinesiology degree. Although she doesn’t have an exact idea of what she is planning on doing with her degree, she can learn from some of the best at Rebound Sport & Spine! When out in the community, you will see Emma representing Rebound as she has helped with the Langley Rams Junior Football Club as well as an upcoming goal of helping UFV as a trainer for their Varsity team sports!

In Emma’s spare time, she likes to exercise in the gym, spend time with her family and friends, as well as continue her studies towards her Kinesiology degree!
